Never in a million years would I have thought I’d be writing a blog about myself. And what’s more, I never would have thought that somebody would even want to read about me. But if I have learned anything in the past three years,it’s that nothing is off limits when it comes to art. Absolutely nothing. In 2015 when I opened my atelier in Piran and showed you my work, you responded in the most incredible way. I’m now at the point where I can proudly call myself a professional artist, something I was always dreaming about as a kid.
Nika Nika Nika
But since this tiny story is becoming bigger every day, I think it’s only appropriate I introduce myself. My name is Nika and I’m a graduate in interior design with a passion for colour and art in general. I’ve always been impressed by creative people and wanted to become one myself. I was born in 1992, but the story you are most interested in started roughly 23 years later …

The year 2015
When I passed my last exam at the Faculty of Design and took a year off before finishing my degree, I had a lot of free time on my hands. I just picked up a piece of driftwood on a beach near Piran, and made few houses out of it. They looked kind of cute, but still needed a lot of work. As I was spending more and more time in the atelier, people started to stop by to watch me work. At first, it wasn’t even a part time job – more of a hobby, really. Most of the year, I did some freelance graphic design work and travelled, but when summer started it was all about Nika’s tiny house. I have no idea how many hours I’ve spent here, but you can bet it’s a lot. My crafting skills improved, and so did my touch for colour and precise painting. It took me roughly 2 years before I figured out how to do certain things, to realise the full potential Nika‘s tiny house‘s and start running it as a business.
Piran
If you have already had the pleasure to visit Piran, you can imagine how fun it was for me growing up here, walking through these colourful streets and watching people from all over the world come and admire its beauty. Throughout the centuries, Piran has inspired many artists, and I proudly admit I’m one of them. Even though I’ve lived here my whole life, I still haven’t seen everything Piran has to offer. Every day I notice new things about this city that I have never seen before, and every day I am more amazed at Piran’s ability to remain timeless, beautiful and an inspiration for many generations of artists.

The Future
Driftwood was just a hobby at the beginning, with graphic design projects and travelling taking up most of my time. Today, this is my full-time job, and I’ve got a lot of big plans for the coming years – not only for Nika’s tiny house, in some other fields too, but that’s really a story for another time. Right now, I’m either working in the atelier, somewhere with my dogs or catching some sun on the beach. In the winter months, I still plan to travel, but I also want to take some time to create bigger and more detailed pieces. You can find more about that here. I still have a long way to go to reach the standard I’ve set for myself as an artist, but so far it has been an amazing experience and I can’t wait to see where this artistic journey will take me.

Contact
That’s it – a short blog about who I am, how everything started and what I plan for the future. If you’d like to reach out to me, the best way is through Facebook or Instagram. For questions about the atelier or my work, you can also use the contact form on the homepage.
